"It's nothing personal. It's just that she's all alone. And that's not right!" - Tate Langdon

The final episode of the season flashes back to nine months ago to do a pretty rapid run through of what's gone down during the season. I should have known I was in trouble when this "play it again Sam for the low attention spanners" went down. Three weeks after Vivien's death in childbirth, Ben is taking the surviving baby and getting out of Dodge, good decision. Constance, who was minding the baby who looks a lot older than three weeks, warns Ben not to go back into the House, of course Ben does so as he's the world's biggest dick.

Seems Ben planned on a bit of suicide but is stopped by Vivien and Violet, who want him to go raise the baby and move beyond the House's influence. Unfortunately Hayden and the house invaders have other ideas and Ben ends up hanging from the stairwell chandelier. So add Ben to the household spook show. A new family, the Ramos, buys the house but thankfully is scared off by the Harmons before the House can flex its muscles yet again. The episode ends with the Harmons celebrating around the Xmas tree of ghostly splendour, frack me Glee finally polluted the season after being held at bay for eleven previous episodes.

As the end credits rolled in this episode I had to pick up my bottom jaw. After an outstanding season the final episode dropped the ball with the line a couple of strides away and unguarded. Talk about ruining a good relationship, we got through the entree, really enjoyed the main course, and then found a giant turd in the dessert. I simply do not have the talent to write how incredibly bad this episode was in finishing out a year that was high on scares, brought the chaos, and otherwise made fans of us all. What the was Writer Jessica Sharzer thinking, she should never ever be allowed near this franchise again, or in fact any dark genre series, the Chick has no bloody idea what she is dealing with. We have gone from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre meat locker to The Brady Bunch lounge room. Frack you Sharzer!

Jessica Sharzer needs to go write twitard novels, or anything else that isn't likely to pollute dark genre shows.

Okay so Ben keeps being a self opinionated dick right to the final moments of the season, I really hate this character who naturally gets the family back and its all wine and roses. The fact that Ben is directly responsible for almost everything that happens to the Harmons doesn't earn any sort of punishment in direct contradiction to standard horror requirements. The whole Twitard thing of males being complete and utter moronic misogynists, and somehow this is shown as a good thing, is continued in the character of Ben. One of the biggest weaknesses of the season is iced off by the final episode that simply sold out the fans in one of the worse plot developments I've watched this season. I was simply shaking my head in disbelief, American Horror Story in one episode went from the Penthouse to the outhouse; if it neighed they would shot it to put it out of its misery.

About the only saving grace of the episode were events over Constance's place. How did we know that would be the case! Three years in the future Constance arrives home to find a blood trail leading to the surviving Harmon infant she is raising as her own, dear god that's really going to work out. The angelic looking child has murder his nanny and is all smiles about it; Constance is left wondering exactly what she is going to do with the new member of the family. Nice ending, pity about the preceding forty minutes of shite.

We are left with two possibilities going forward from the episode, neither of which overly ring my bell, unless the little one if named Dexter of course. We either have the further adventures of Constance raised a psycho killer, and while I love the character of Constance I can't see this one working in any shape or form, or the Harmons scaring potential house owners away from Murder House episode after episode, please just shot me now! So yes the season ends in an open ended matter, though I would be more than happy to see an episode of Kevin McCloud's Grand Designs that involves the house at the end of a demolition ball.

For those who don't know, all two of you, season two of American Horror Story begins an entirely new story apparently set in an Asylum. Thank god for that, though got to say I'm not entirely fanging for the second season after the final episode of season one.

The final episode managed a season high of 3.22 million viewers in North America. That's possibly unfortunate for the show overall as I got to say if this was my introduction to the franchise then I wouldn't be watching any more, derivative comes to mind - come on down Beetlejuice.

Extremely disappointed in the final episode, this was just made for television wishy washy bollock. No recommendation folks watch this one at your own peril, which is unfortunate as the rest of the season was pretty strong up to this point.

One of the worse televisions episodes in any genre I've watched this decade!
