"Because I have been searching for you for a 1,000 years ... a true leader" - Eric Northman

Eric is still in Mississippi but everyone else has left Dodge. Sookie has broken up with Bill and is dreading pursuit by the minions of Russell. Tara is with Lafayette but has nightmares about her time under captivity by Franklin. Sam is still trying to shake loose Joe Lee and his mother. And Lafayette has a visit by his mother with Jesus in hot pursuit. Did I miss anyone? Oh Crystal comes to stay with Jason after being beaten on by her fiancé.

Arlene is haunted by her baby being Renees'. There's a new waitress at Merlottes who seems to know more than she should. Oh and Jessica and Hoyt are still doing their thing. It's a packed episode so trying to jam everything in without giving away spoilers. Just watch the damned episode, Eric unleashing in it towards the end and Hadley showing off the fruits of the U.S lingerie industry are highlights for mine.

At one stage I was going to dub this episode the "gay" one. Okay Lafayette and Jesus going at it like teenagers is pretty much par for the course, and yes they are back together after their lover's tiff last week, but Eric and Talbot getting it on was pushing the envelope way beyond what this homeboy wanted to see. Thankfully Sookie decides a bit of hide the sausage is in order when Bill comes to her rescue, Hadley shows off black lingerie is nearly always in style, and Eric has ulterior motives. Saved by the hetro bell there kids, though no doubt the gay community would have been digging the episode regardless, dig on in there kids.

I guess this episode is all about showing the effects of what has gone down during the season thus far prior to diving headlong into the final third and no doubt building towards one hell of a cliff hanger in the final episode. Tara is showing some signs of mental fragility, without being too mean, it runs in the family. Sookie, Bill, and Jessica, are digging in as Russell and his Nazi werewolves come to pay a visit. And Eric is reaping what he has been carefully sowing. You get the feeling that we're about to close the book on certain plot threads prior to hitting with their consequences, Remembering this is horror, there nearly always are prices to be paid.

Okay going to say it again, Nazi werewolves never go out of fashion, but thanks for the emails, nice to know we can anger

The episode also allowed some of the subplots to develop and perhaps a new central character to be introduced. Hoyt and Jessica are still apart and pining for each other, that's getting somewhat old by about now. Tommy is turning into a right little prick, he almost comes to blows with Hoyt, and deserves to get put on his arse. Arlene is concerned about whose baby she is currently carrying, which will be interesting somewhere in the future in terms of nature or nurture. And of cause Jason is going all alpha male over Crystal, staring down her father from behind a loaded shotgun. Strangely both Sam and Tommy can smell something weird on Crystal's father and fiancé, with Dad at least knowing Sam is able to change. In terms of possible new characters, sign on waitress Holly seems to know more than you would think. They have made enough of a point of introducing Holly, and given the crowded play book this season I'm expecting her to pop into frame in season four. Talk about your long range story boarding, guess they have the books to be following along with.

In a development that had me surprised, both Ruby-Jean and Jesus mention that Lafayette has some strong powers with a danger he might dark side if he continues his dealing of drugs. Is there some sort of supernatural power Lafayette is unaware of? Would be an interesting development, and I would imagine it might come down the voodoo turnpike given the decorations our boy blinges his pad with. Probably yet another teaser for next season, with the ongoing Russell and Joe Lee situations, not to mention Crystal, and only four episodes left, there just isn't enough room to develop the possible ideas percolating away this season. I'm kind of hoping Lafayette has some sort of power, the local rednecks should start running for the bayou if that's the case.

There were a couple of highlights to this episode, besides proving beyond a doubt that Anna Paquin can act with the best of them. While Bill and Sookie get their wild thing on, been a while since Sookie has gone nekkid on us, Jessica is draining a Nazi werewolf in a sort of contradictory show of pleasure. And okay I never thought I would write the words "draining a Nazi werewolf", only True Blood eh! It's a nice juxtaposition that had me high fiving my stereo repairman, are you meant to send them back? I also liked Sophie-Anne's howls of displeasure when she saw her room at the start of the episode, all framed by Talbot going camper than a row of tents in front of camera. Wicked sense of humour right there.

Have I got anything else to say? The T&A is definitely being turned up for the girls, happy trails there ladies. There's a bunch of trouble heading Lafayette's way. There's something real strange about Crystal's family, besides the inbred trailer trash thing, and Tommy needs a bit of a smack. Nope that's about it, nothing more to add, another excellent episode rocking us out.

Okay so just going to admit it here, bit of the fan of the old Bon Temps shenanigans and don't mind who knows it. Plenty of T&A, lots of horror rampage, and some good decent character developments per episode, what's not to like. Mrs J, who absolutely detests anything horror like is a firm fan as well, so guess this one reaches beyond the dark genre into the general citizenship. As such full recommendation, though this is one television series that requires time in country, don't expect to understand everything that is going down from viewing the odd episode, full commitment people, get your Bon Temps on y'all.

I'm starting to think we just tag in 9 for each episode and call it done and dusted, simply excellent television
