Looks likely to fall short of $10 million

Out of the top twenty this weekend were From Paris With Love, Hoyts pretty much picking up the pieces of a car wreck there, My One And Only that will have the folks over at Hopscotch happy with life, Roadshow's Bran Nue Dae keeping local flags flying, and Invictus landing the extras for Warner Brothers. We're in the happy dumping ground at the moment, expect a number of movies to fail the box office test or being released on DVD sales strategies. Unfortunately down the track we are faced with the share terror of U.S popcorn flicks that appeal by and largely to avid readers of MX, can hardly wait for that one Viktor.

ScaryMinds score in '10

0 for 5 - Thankfully nothing released over the weekend to further blow my street cred.

Alice In Wonderland continues it's climb to post $30 million goodness ensuring Tim Burton is going to be in th mix for the top ten of the year at the Australian Box Office. Surprisingly haven't got around to catching this movie yet, and I'm a confirmed Burton fan. Sony, and they're been a bit shy recently, opened The Bounty Hunter in second spot with a solid $6,765 average over 204 locations. The Distributor looks to have got this one about right, and clearly wont be expecting much beyond a 2.5 multiplier. Green Zone dropped one spot on it's second weekend on the back of a reasonable -37% hold. Universal are clearly not going to be looking to make their fortunes on this one.

Shutter Island continues to toy with breakout hit status and looks to be in range with nothing much else dark genre rise on the horizon. A good week and a solid hold over next weekend and we can start high fiving.

What's Coming Up, if anything

The weekend ahead is clear for lawn mowing, car cleaning, and checking out what the DVD store has in stock.
