Looks likely to fall short of $10 million   Rebound and back into the top 20

Dropping out of the top twenty over weekend five The Wolfman returned a pretty good result for Universal on the horror side of the ledger. Howling up a lot more than was expected at the start of year, has the lupine outing paved the road for additional classics from the U.S studio? Time will tell but can we expect to see Frankenstein's Monster lumbering over the hills in the near future? Universal also waved good bye to their older demographic Rom-Com It's Complicated and had to consign themselves to a near miss on the blockbuster stakes. Overall the Distributor should be very pleased with the result given it was a risky venture in this market. The least said about Roadshow's Law Abiding Citizen the better really, something of a miss there. And Fox continue their resurgence over the past couple of years with Tooth Fairy surprisinly roping in the bogan elements.

ScaryMinds score in '10

0 for 5 - And we have our first horror car wreck of the year with Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant simply not finding a market at all. Which kind of goes to demonstrated why Twilight fans are refered to as Twitards really.

Tim Burton has himself a blockbuster Down Under with Alice In Wonderland crossing over the $20 million mark and holding onto the top spot through it's second weekend. I'm till of the opinion that this movie can track down $30 million end of day to really give Burton, Depp, and Co a good start to the year. Universal managed a solid opening for Green Day in second spot with a $8,070 average over 245 locations. Not much is expected from this movie and it hasn't got off to an overly brilliant start. Time will tell if word of mouth will check in. The Blind Side continues a solid run Down Under and is going to turn in a result for Universal, who are kicking some goals over recent weekends.

What's Coming Up, if anything

Nothing happening though there's some big horror releases on the way including a local production. Stay tuned folks.
