Happy Death Day  It (2017)   Flatliners (2017)

Another weekend another single movie fell out of the top twenty that we should take some note of. The Hitman's Bodyguard lasted six weeks making a reasonable $6.8 million, which will keep things bopping for distributor Roadshow. Guess they may have hoped for additional earnings but those are the breaks. Personally neither here nor there with the result, but hey horror site remember.

Weekend number two saw Blade Runner 2049 hold onto top spot with a drop of -41.4%. The movie earnt an additional $2.6 million pushing total gross to a formative $8.5 million, but indicating in the process that blockbuster status is off the table. Still we are definitely talking a break out hit and hey for those hung4ry for the silver disc a definite double banger with the original Blade Runner, time to start saving those pennies kids as you will be wanting the steel case release of that combo. Anyways think total earning in now coming back to something below $15 million with some big titles on the horizon.

Two new entries hold down positions 2 and 3 on the chart this weekend, which adds some spice to proceedings for mine. The Mountain Between Us involves Idris Elba and Kate Winslet surviving a plane crash and then having to hike through the snow shrouded wilderness to hopefully some sort of rescue. Distributor Fox opened the movie on 288 screens scoring an averate of $5,959 for a bow of $1.7 million. This doesn't bode well for the movie, a pretty meh result likely to come down the pike before the movie finishes what is possibly a short stay in the chart. In second spot horror comedy Happy Death Day involves a college student chick who has to relive the day she was murdered till she determines who her killer is. Colonel Mustard would be my guess, but hey an average of $5,428 over 262 screens did give a bow of $1.4 million, so we quite possible have another horror hit on our hands.

Busy weekend for the dark genre fans amongst us at the box office. It continues to battle in the top twenty with a -53% drop over weekend six, the mocie made $357K which pushed the overall gross to a stunning $23.3 million. Okay some trouble for Flatliners with a -64% drop over weekend three, this isn't going to end well but hey the movie romped over the the pass mark without breaking a sweat. Another win right there for the dark genre, word to your mother we is having a hell of a rocking time in 2017.

Geostorm  The Limehouse Golem

Hey a couple more movies to groove to people, and they should appeal to all sorts of folks. Geostorm involves Gerald Butler rushing to save the human race from a network of satellites designed to control the global climate but which unfortunately has apparently gone Skynet on us. Thinking this one might squeeze out a $1.4 million result if disaster fans turn out like we believe they will. Also hitting screens in limited release is The Limehouse Golem which has a Jack the Ripper vibe for mine, expecting a $120K result as this one is clearly being hammered out to get the name in front of Dark genre fans, has worked, fanging to have the disc delivered by Santa on Christmas day.
