IT (2017)  Flatliners (2017)  mother!

In yet another example of a movie that won't be remembered in sixth months time, American Made had a five week run earning a pretty blah result of $6.5 million. Mediocre comes to mind for action movies, but at least some folk got some enjoyment. Meanwhile Madman continued their rampage through the live action J-horror world with Tokyo Ghoul raising interest in the horror community Downunder. The movie took a $50K bite out of the box office with an extremely limited release, bit dud enough to ensure we, at least, are going to be sweating on the Disc release. Looks good, fingers crossed this might be the second manga/anime/live action we start following like crazed Tassie Devils on the scent of something bleeding. Christopher Nolan surprisingly went to historic battles for his latest movie Dunkirk, which I admit I haven't watched as yet but will be on top of when released on Disc. Anyways, and hey its not all about me, the movie retreated from the box office with $23.5 million in the bank which is a pretty good result for a movie that may not have appealed to all demographics. And finally speaking of World War 2 the Norwegian movie Kongens Nei (The King's Choice) made a $600K decision on limited release which should have distributor Palace happy with the result. Good to see foreign language movies are still doing reasonable business Downunder.

Hanging on to top spot with a -37.9% fall over weekend two Kingsman: The Golden Circle passed through breakout hit status over the weekend. The movie sabotaged a $3.6 million result pushing total gross to tad over $12 million. Don't think this will be enough to keep things rocking along but it's still going to be a damn fine result for Fox overall. The Distributor is certainly scoring some good results this year which bodes well for the future after a few lean years.

Dear god in heaven the asinine The Emoji Movie actually increased its market share by 38.6%, IQ levels just dropped to single digits in some parts of the Country. The movie made $2.2 million more than it merits bringing total gross to $9 million, the less said about this one the better. Equally Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie made a further $1.6 milion on a 62.8% expanse bringing total earn to $5.78 million, let's move along and pretend this shite isn't going down.

So we have the odd horror movie in the top twenty to keep the home fires burning and to keep the fanbase happy. Dropping to fourth spot with a -41.6% contraction It managed to still drag in $1.43 million which was another to push the total gross beyond blockbuster status, happy days kids. No still haven't seen the movie, too much hype and too many want to be scared folk for my liking. Still a tad more to be earnt before its run is done, expecting something over $23 million from here. Opening in second spot remake Flatliners (2017) fell a bit flat to be honest falling below my projection of $1.4 million, which a few people questioned as being a tad light. The movie was on a solid enough 228 screens averaging a tad disappointing $4,922K which gave up a bow of $1.12 million. I would be surprised if Flatliners breaks through the $2 million barrier from here to be honest. And finally mother! dropped -65.4% over weekend three putting paid to any ideas of a shock result. The movie earnt $99K which pushed total gross above $1.51 million, unfortunately that's going to be about all she wrote folks.
